The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa together with the South African Medical Association will today be leading nurses and doctors in a peaceful march to the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital in the Eastern Cape.

This is to launch the Positive Practice Environment campaign which calls for safer and conducive environment in healthcare facilities for health professions to work under.

Denosa Provincial Secretary in the Eastern Cape Koliswa Tota said people are accusing health officials when things do not go their way and now by embarking on this march the officials are showing their dissatisfaction with many things that take place in their line of work.

Tota further urged members of the public to join the peace march because this action is to show that some health facilities conditions are unfavourable.

“There is not equipment, no treatment, shortage of staff, so the community need to support this march because it affects them”said Tota.

The march is expected to start this morning and a number of Non-Profit Organisations are expected to join in.
