DA: Parliament is not a retirement home for failed politicians

The Democratic Alliance today said Parliament is not a dumping ground for poor performing politicians, nor should it be seen as a place of reprieve.

This follows the comments made by African National Congress Secretary-general Gwede Mantashe on Monday that former Premier of Limpopo will be redeployed to Parliament.

DA Chief Whip Watty Watson said that to take a premier who has rusted as far as his job is concerned and take him to Parliament is like taking him to an old age home.

“The Secretary-General should rethink his words and the redeployment of Cassel Mathale.

“It sounds as if Parliament is a place where we can send failures of the provinces; it is ridiculous and makes a mockery of the democratic process” Watson added.
