CT metro police receives new task team

The City Manager, Achmat Ebrahim and a team of experts will take a more direct oversight role in the management of Cape Town's Metro Police. This will be the start of an extensive process to improve service delivery and the regulation of Metro Police.

This team will deal with matters such as:
· getting the basics right
· discipline
· prompt disciplinary action where needed
· improving the image of the service
· auditing to ensure proper financial and governance processes

According to the city the new joint task team will be set up to perform the oversight role. The team includes the Metro Police Chief and his deputies, and skilled subject experts from the Administration in areas such industrial relations, legal, and communication.

On Thursday the City Manager briefed the City of Cape Town’s Safety and Security Portfolio Committee about the intervention and process.
