A 21-year-old man of Zone 8, in Thembalethu and the 23-year-old suspect had an argument in the streets of Thembalethu near no. 5287 in Zone 8 at about 21:00.
Captain Malcolm Pojie says the suspect and the deceased reportedly fought when the suspect stabbed the deceased several times with a knife whilst his friends witnessed the ordeal.
“The deceased sustained stab wounds to the chest and other parts of the body.’’
The deceased managed to run into the yard of a house nearby, but collapsed and died on the spot, says Pojie.
“An autopsy will be conducted in the week to determine the cause of death. The suspect was apprehended later the same evening at about 23:00 and is currently in detention at the Thembalethu SAPS holding cells.”
The suspect will appear today in the George Magistrate Court.
