The Hawks arrested a Cape Town woman on charges of human trafficking after a teenage girl was found in her Table View brothel over the weekend.
This is after a joint operation by the City’s Vice Squad and the Table View police searching various brothels in the area on Saturday.
Spokesperson Neil Arendse says a 17 year old girl from Klerksdorp was brought to the city under a false pretence of baby sitting and found herself working in a brothel as a sex worker.
Arendse says the Vice Squad handed the case to the Hawks who made an arrest yesterday.
“Charges under the Sexual Offences Act, relating to the keeping of a brothel, selling of sex and trafficking in persons for sexual purposes, were brought against the brothel owner,” he said.
The suspect has been since released on bail.
