The community of Mitchell’s Plain has decided to clear away bushes in the area.

Mitchell’s plain residents say bushes situated opposite the Westgate Mall, on the corner of Morgenster and Weltevreden Roads have become hazardous.

The bushes have been linked to criminal activity in the area.

The team of parolees from Correctional Services and Neighbourhood Watch members will be lead by the Chairperson of the Mitchells Plain Sub-Council, Councillor Natalie Bent to clear the bushes.

The attempt is to minimize criminal activities and create a safe community. Over the Weekend two Samora Machell children were abducted to the bush.

A 12 year old girl was assaulted and raped. She managed to escape and she was found by the police who she alerted them of an 8 year old boy who was tied up and badly assaulted.

A 41 year old man was arrested for abduction and rape.
