The judge hearing a battle for the presidency of the Congress of the People in the South Gauteng High Court has adjourned the matter, saying he wants a political solution, rather than a legal one.

Judge Rami Matopo has told the Mosiuoa Lekota and the Mbhazima Shilowa factions to make time to talk about what’s best for Cope.

Lekota is trying to have a vote of no confidence overturned.

Judgment has been reserved in an earlier court battle in which Shilowa applied for leave to appeal against an interdict preventing the party from holding elections until September.
