Metro Police officers have vowed to intensify their presence on the City’s roads, as they continue to crack down on road offences.
This weekend was no exception as various roadblocks, vehicle check points and vehicle and foot patrols were executed.
1294 traffic fines were issued, 211 by-law offences recorded and 24 suspects arrested for various offences.
Metro Police also focused on increased visibility around the fan jol, Public Viewing Area, at the Oliver Tambo Hall in Khayelitsha.
“Metro Police officers have been conducting regular, visible patrols around the fan jol in an attempt to show the public that we will adopt a stringent approach when it comes to road safety,” said Metro Police’s Deputy Chief, Yolanda Faro.
