The Automobile Association is warning of road closures in the Eastern and Western Cape following snowfalls.
Hail has also been reported on the N3 between Mooi River and Nottingham Road in KwaZulu-Natal, with roads in Lesotho also being affected.
Travellers to the Drakensburg in the Eastern Cape are requested to check with their point of destination regarding accessibility.
Motorists are also urged to ensure their vehicle has sufficient fuel and to have blankets on hand in case they get stuck.
Eastern Cape provincial traffic spokesperson Tshepo Machaea is quoted as saying several people were injured in road accidents.
