The National Union of Mineworkers says up to 16 thousand workers at the national power utility Eskom could go on strike come Thursday.
The union says the strike will go ahead if they are not given an 18-percent pay increase.
The union’s Lesiba Seshoka says wage negotiations were deadlocked last night, but added they resumed this morning.
Seshoka says Eskom employees are also looking for a housing allowance in addition to the wage increase.
