A 44 year old man has been arrested on charges of malicious damage to property to a Metrorail train at Maitland Railway station on the 8 April 2010.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Siyabulela Vukubi says the man from Tokai was arrested after following a thorough investigation by SAPS members.
This arrest follows after a Metrorail train was set alight on Thursday, 8 April 2010 at Maitland Railway station.
“A police investigation task team was then established to investigate the matter which led to this arrest. After a thorough interviewing of witnesses and compiling of an identikit; the suspect who fit the description was arrested at his home in Tokai.
The suspect, appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court yesterday, and he was remanded in custody after bail was opposed.
