Three suspects aged between 25 and 17 years, are due to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s court on robbery charges tomorrow.
It is alleged the three men robbed a 51 year old female of her handbag in the vicinity of Kenilworth on Tuesday afternoon.
Police say the woman was confronted by three unknown males, whilst walking along McKinley Road in Claremont with her daughter.
“One of the suspects grabbed hold of the complainant's handbag, however she refused to let go, the suspect then kicked the complainant, resulting in her falling to the ground, despite this, she still hung onto her bag,” explained police spokesperson Angie Latchman.
Latchman say the woman was then dragged along the road, still clinging onto the handbag, when eventually the handbag strap cut and the suspect finally managed to get hold of the bag.
Meanwhile after failing to grab the daughter’s hand bag, the two suspects were joined by their other counter-part and fled in the direction of Grassy Park in Blue BMW vehicle.
A police chase then ensued resulting in all three suspects being apprehended near Zeekovlei in Muizenberg.
