The family of President Jacob Zuma has distanced itself from reports that one of the president’s wives had an affair with her bodyguard.
Reports yesterday claimed Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma had cheated on Zuma, and doubts about the father of her unborn child have been raised.
The allegations first came to light after an anonymous letter was sent to a local newspaper.
The letter claims the bodyguard, Phinda Thomo, took his own life when word of the affair came to light.
Meanwhile former President Nelson Mandela today finds himself in the middle of a heated battle.
Fifa World Cup organisers recently announced the 91-year-old statesman would attend the opening game of the tournament, but Madiba’s family say he is too frail to make an appearance.
Madiba’s grandson, Mandla Mandela says the family has decided that it will be a challenge to get the former president to a soccer stadium on a cold winter’s night to watch the game.
Madiba campaigned for the Fifa World Cup to be held in South Africa back in 2004.
