The African National Congress and its labour ally, the Congress of South African Trade Unions are set to meet today to discuss the steaming tensions between the two.
The meeting is expected to take place at ANC headquarters Luthuli House in Johannesburg.
This comes after both President Jacob Zuma and Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe criticized the trade union federation.
Meanwhile, Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi described the federation’s alliance with the ANC and the South African Communist Party as "dysfunctional".
Political analysts states during the public sector strike that the relationship between the two parties had always been on shaky ground and the name calling during the strike was a mere indication of that.
