Cape Town Metro Police Officers had a busy weekend. Twenty two motorists were arrested for drunk driving and two suspects got nabbed for possession of dagga whilst one suspect was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Metro Police were assisted by the South African Police Service while they were conducting roadblocks and routine patrols in the Main Road between Wynberg and Diep River.

This operation resulted in the arrest of 20 motorists for drunk driving and one person was arrested in Essex Road, for drinking in public.

In Atlantis, a further two drivers were also arrested for drunk driving, whilst one suspect was arrested in Old Mamre road, for possession of a stolen motor vehicle that was reported stolen in Malmesbury earlier this month.

Two suspects got arrested for possession of dagga, during routine patrols in the Ravensmead area.

Deputy Chief, Yolanda Faro said “The unacceptable high number of drunken driving cases recorded on our roads was recently highlighted in the media, and this is one offence we will keep concentrating on.”
