A fire broke out and damaged a chemical laboratory at the University of the Cape Town on Thursday morning.
“Three fire engines and a specialised vehicle which handles hazardous materials, were sent to deal with the chemicals inside the building,” said Fire and rescue services senior emergency communicator Winston Davids.
The fire took more than two hours to be extinguished. No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still not known. An investigation is underway.
