Since the bird-flu outbreak last year, ostrich farmers in the Northern, Southern and Western Cape have struggled.
Many farmers in Oudtshoorn are now out of business since the EU banned ostrich meat.
The Minister of Agriculture in the Western Cape, Gerrit van Rensburg will visit the department’s Oudtshoorn Research farm today to try and find a solution to the problem.
He added that he wants to thank all the vets for their hard work with the sick animals during the past year.
Van Rensburg said he will also discuss the restructure of the ostrich industry.
