The South African ostrich industry has taken a huge hit after a bird-flu outbreak last year in the Klein Karoo in the Western Cape.
Since the European-Union banned the export of ostrich meat from SA, it has crippled farmers.
The Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Gerrit van Rensburg said that something needs to be done to get the trade going again.
He added that the department must try and help the farmers, so that they can start exporting again.
