A man died in Pietermaritzburg after a shooting

ER24 paramedics attended top a scene on Friday when a man had been shot in Long Market Street in Pietermaritzburg.

ER24 Spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the man lying on a pavement.

Bodasing said a member of the public was trying to help him. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he was in a critical condition.

She said “Paramedics began treating him for his injuries and despite all efforts the man succumbed to his injuries”

The exact cause of the shooting is unknown, however, authorities were on scene for further investigations.
