The Cape Flats has been plagued by a string of shootings
this past weekend.
One person succumbed to their injuries and six others are
seriously injured following a shooting incident in Forest Drive in Eerste River
on Friday afternoon.
Meanwhile, police found a body of a man who sustained
gunshot wounds in Lotus River on Sunday, with another 47-year-old man
succumbing to his injuries. Police said the incident occurred in Hawthorn
Court.
‘’Grassy Park police responded to a complaint on Sunday 23
July 2023. Upon their arrival at the crime scene near to Hawthorn Court, Buck
Road in Lotus River at around 19:15, they found the body of a male who
sustained multiple gunshot wounds . The victim was declared deceased on the
scene by the medical personnel. A male aged 47, who also sustained gunshot
wounds, was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and declared
deceased upon arrival at the medical facility,’’ said Warrant Officer, Joseph
Swartbooi.
Furthermore, also on a Sunday, a 28-year-old man was shot
and killed near to Daffodil Street in Heinz Park.

July 2023. Upon arrival at the crime scene near to Daffodil Street in Heinz
Park , they found the body of a 28 year old man who sustained gunshot wounds.
The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The
unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.’’
In Mitchell’s Plain - two men, aged 23 and 39, were shot and fatally
wounded in Bayern Munich Road, in Tafelsig on Sunday.
‘’Mitchells Plain police are investigating a double murder
case following a shooting incident on 2023-07-23 at about 01:20 in front of a
premises in Bayern Munich Road, Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain where a 23 and 39
year old males were shot and fatally wounded. According to reports the victims
was in the mentioned street when unidentified suspects fired several shots
at them. Both victims sustained
multiple gunshot wounds to their bodies. The suspects fled and are yet
to be arrested.’’
Meanwhile, on Monday, two bodies were found with gunshot wounds on an open field near to Klipspringer Street in Eastridge.
‘’…at around 01:40, they [SAPS members] found the bodies of
two victims who sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were declared
deceased on the scene by the medical personnel.
The motive for the attack is unknown,’’ said Warrant Officer, Joseph
Swartbooi.
Police confirmed that in all of these incidents, the
unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested.
