Woman arrested for fraud in Bellville

A 35-year-old accused appeared before the Bellville Magistrate’s Court in the Western Cape on Monday on charges of fraud.

Siziwe Rolinyati received an amount of R 9 500, in December 2022, from a victim regarding property to rent.

The victim deposited the money into a company account.

According to the provincial Hawks spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Siyabulela Vukubi, the victim realised that the business was fake and was unable get hold of the representative.

‘’The victim registered a case of fraud in Bellville which was investigated by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation. It was established that the bank account actually belonged to Siziwe Rolinyati. The attempts were made to trace and arrest the suspect who could not be found until yesterday [Sunday] , 09 July 2023 when she was arrested then subsequently made first appearance in Bellville Magistrate Court on charges of fraud.’’

Vukubi says Rolinyathi’s case has been postponed to 11 August 2023 and the accused was released on a warning.
