The Treatment Action Campaign has expressed it disappointment in the sentencing of the two suspects involved in the rape and murder trial of 18 year old, TAC activist Nandipha Makeke.
They say that the two men Thembinkosi Ntukani and Bongo Sibhozo who both received 20 years’ jail each, should of received life in prison.
The youth co-ordinator of the TAC Khayelitsha branch Pumeza Runeyi says that not only are they disappointed in the ruling but say their members are being intimidated by those that were involved in the case.
“We have gone to the Harare police because they are intimidating our members in Harare, especially the one who was acquitted from the case, he has threatened our member saying he will kill them,” says Runeyi.
Nandipha Makeke was raped and shot in the head in December 2005.
