South African music icon Busi Mhlongo has died after a long battle with cancer.
The singer, dancer and composer was often referred to as the Queen of Maskanda, which is a type of Zulu folk music.
Mhlongo was the first Zulu woman to express Maskanda music commercially.
She died last night at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital in Johannesburg at age 62.
