General secretary of Cosatu, Zwelinzima Vavi, says the ruling party will be breaking its own rules and traditions if it tries to bring him to book.
Vavi has reportedly sent a strongly-worded letter to his ANC counterpart, Gweda Mantashe, saying a disciplinary hearing will create a dangerous precedent.
This comes after the ANC’s National Working Committee said Vavi should be charged after comments made at a Cosatu news conference last week.
Vavi criticised President Jacob Zuma and his Cabinet last week for not investigating allegations of corruption.
