A man was seriously injured this afternoon when the floor of the trench he was digging collapsed underneath him.
The incident occurred at Delft day hospitals where the worker was digging the trench for pipes they were installing around the hospital.
ER24’s Andre said the man allegedly hit a pipe under the trench floor and was buried within the pipe approximately 3 meters.
“The structural walls of the trench lane also gave away burying him in soil up to his shoulders.”
“When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene other paramedics and rescue workers were already busy extracting the worker as to not cause any further engulfment from the side walls of the trench. ER24 also dispatched the ER24 Discovery Medicopter to the scene “
The worker were treated for crushing injuries to his lower extremities and taken to hospital.
