The Public Servants Association says it has not yet received a mandate from its members to reject government’s latest wage offer.
PSA spokesperson Manie de Klerk says discussions with members takes time, and urged unions not to put themselves under pressure by announcing their rejection before they get the “go ahead” from workers.
De Klerk says government has just made its “final” offer, and says a rejection of this offer will mean a return to the drawing board.
Meanwhile, the South African Petrol Retailers Association says they are concerned that groups of striking union members are moving from one petrol station to the next, intimidating non-striking petrol attendants.
The Association’s National Director, Peter Noke says there seem to be isolated pockets of violence, where bus loads of strikers completely take over service stations
