24 school children injured in a taxi crash

Twenty-four school children have been injured in Durban today.

The school children aged between six and ten-years-old, were injured, eleven seriously.

The minibus taxi they were traveling in was struck, by a heavy goods truck in the junction of the M13 Jan Smuts Highway beneath the N3 Sherwood Bridge this afternoon.

Netcare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the taxi stuck against a traffic signal pole with the heavy goods truck nearby.

The children were treated and stabilised on the scene, they were then transported to the city hospital for medical checkups.

The cause of the accident is still unclear, but the South African Police Force will be investigating the accident.
