Police officer killed while off duty

A police officer from Phuthaditjhaba K9 Unit was shot and killed by four suspects during a business robbery in the early hours today at Marakong Village in QwaQwa.

The off duty officer was responding to a business robbery at a foreign owned business in the area where he resides.

Sgt Mmako Mophiring said it is alleged that on 17 July 2014 a security guard working at a Bangladesh shop saw four people attempting to break into the business and alerted the police.

“I want to send my humble condolences to the family, his colleagues and community members he was serving. We shall take extensive measures to seek, find and bring his killers to book. The death of one police officer is a death to many Mophiring added.
