The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union said it is happy with the move by the Minister of Police to professionalize the Police and review the current SA Police Service Act.

Minister of Police Nkosinathi Nhleko delivered the police’s budget vote in Parliament this week.

Popcru’s General Secretary Nathi Theledi said they acknowledge the steps taken by the Minister in the recruitment processes of new police members entering the department.

Theledi said the union will continuously engage in terms of prioritising areas of service delivery to ensure that all South Africans are kept safe and secure, as this is the mandate of the South African Police Service.

“We are comfortable with the budget by the Minister of Police and he has our full support” Theledi added.
