The National Sea Rescue Institute in Durban and volunteer sea rescue duty crew were activated following reports of jet-ski with motor difficulties 300 meters behind back line at Umhlanga with 2 local male crew onboard and drifting off-shore in a light South Westerly wind.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the NSRI volunteer sea rescue duty crew at the Durban Boat Show hooked up the sea rescue craft Eikos Rescuer II on her trailer to our sea rescue vehicle and responded and launched at Vechies Pier.

Lambinon said on arrival on-scene we located the two men with their jet ski and we established tow line and towed them to Vechies Pier from where they had launched earlier.

He added that additional NSRI crew were on hand to assist to recover their jet ski to their trailer and no further assistance was required.
