A
Claremont teacher has been forced to take leave while he stands accused of
allegedly raping a 17-year-old learner.
The
52-year-old Science teacher was granted bail of R2,000 in the Wynberg
Magistrates Court yesterday.
He
handed himself over to police earlier this week
.
The
man has been granted bail on condition that he makes no direct or indirect
contact with his accuser.
The
state says the 17-year-old learner, who attends an all-girls school, where the alleged
accused is a teacher, is severely traumatised.
The
man is a father of two and is still employed by the private school.
The
case has been postponed to June, to allow the state time to consult with the
complainant.
