Former president Thabo Mbeki
says young Africans should be given a more positive view of their history. Mbeki
says Africans need to document and teach their own history in schools.
Mbeki says too many believe
they have been victims of slavery, colonisation and apartheid with no control
over their destiny. Mbeki says South Africa's education system needs to promote
African pride adding that colonialism doesn't define Africa's future.
He says Africa’s youth should
be empowered to take responsibility and transform the continent. Mbeki has
called on Africans to conscientize the youth to continue the struggle to fully
liberate the continent.
