A boy dies after being hit by a cricket ball

Matthew Prior a 13-year-old boy has died after being hit in the chest by a cricket ball.

Matthew Prior was playing in an Uplands Preparatory School first team cricket match
when the incident happened.

He was hit by the ball in the chest and he collapsed on the field.

Doctors have stated that the ball broke one of his ribs, which in turn punctured one of the boy’s lungs.

Matthew was rushed to hospital and he died on arrival at a provincial hospital.
