The African National Congress Youth League is seriously considering opening branches at mines across the country.
The ANCYL have been for a few weeks proposing for mines to be nationalised.
The National Union of Mineworkers has responded with criticism, saying the ANCYL is putting the livelihoods of over 400-thousand mineworkers at risk.
At the ANC’s National General Council the issue of nationalisation of mines, was discussed and the members said more research needs to be done, before a final decision is made.
The Youth League’s spokesperson Floyd Shivambu stated that the union protects the interests of mine bosses and investors.
