On Tuesday morning, a warrant officer was shot after being tricked by a house robber in Soweto.
Captain Mpanda Khoza said, “The police officer who is from the Kliptown police station, was in a critical but stable condition recovering in hospital.”
The two officers responded to a house burglary where they found a broken window and one suspect hiding in the house.
“The suspect told the police he was not alone and that other suspects were hiding in the toilet outside,
While one of the officers went to check the toilet the gunman managed to shoot the warrant officer and escaped,” Khoza said.
The constable found no one in the toilet.
It is believed the robber tricked the police officers in order to escape.
It was unclear what was stolen from the home.
