The City of Cape Town has finalized a study into the viability of redeveloping the Athlone cooling towers’ site.
The towers which were next to the N2 highway were demolished in August after being declared unsafe earlier this year.
The City council is now looking into what can be done with the vacant land.
The city council believes at least 22% of the land can be used for housing and 30 % for commercial use.
The only problem could be that the land is located near waste water treatment works.
