A 40-year-old man has died after being attacked in the Eastern Cape.
The man was attacked by a group of residents in Nqamakwe, because he is believed to be a house robber.
Captain Lingisile Magama said the man was apparently seen breaking the windows of a house in Ntwala village on Thursday afternoon and was chased down and attacked by angry community members.
He was found on the scene by police after police received a tip-off.
The man was badly bruised and rushed to the Nwamakwe health centre.
He died on arrival at the clinic.
No arrests have been made but police are still investigating the incident.
