The African National Congress in the Western Cape has called on Premier Helen Zille to put a stop to forced evictions in the province.

This follows a protest in the Hangberg area of Hout Bay two weeks ago, where the City of Cape Town demolished illegal shacks which were built in a fire hazard area.

Yesterday residents of Hangberg held a march in protest to police action in the area which, left people injured.

ANC’s Patrick McKenzie said police used excessive force and he called on Helen Zille to put an end to forced evictions all together.
