The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa has urged all health workers in the country to heed the call by WWF South Africa and join the rest of the world and support Earth Hour 2013.

Denosa said the majority of fuel and energy that is used comes from non-renewable sources like coal which is dirty and unhealthy.

Denosa’s Spokesperson Sibongiseni Delihlazo said a recent study in India that was conducted by NGO`s shows that 10 000 children below the age of 5 years died last year.

Delihlazo added that this shows the extent of the problem that the country is faced with.
