The South African Defense Force has today refuted speculation concerning HIV and Aids rate in the force.

A study done by the Clinical Records Study showed a decrease in HIV and Aids prevalence compared to the national prevalence rate.

Department of Defense Spokesperson Louis Kirstein said the way to refute this is to do our own study.

Kirstein added that we did this in 2011/12 and the study was done among regular force and the Military skill development system.

Kirstein further added that the report showed HIV and Aids prevalence rate of 8.5% in the force compared to the National prevalence rate of about 9.8%.
