ACDP said as they look at the home affairs budget and consider it’s potential to get the job done, the impact of new immigration laws are upper most on their minds.

While they state they are acutely aware that national security cannot be taken lightly, they are concerned that the new regulations are causing difficulties for business, individuals and families.

ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said possibly the most far reaching impact will be felt by more than a quarter of a million Zimbabweans who fled the political and economic crisis at home after disputed elections in 2008.

“Research shows this would have many positive benefits for South Africa including increasing the ability of Zimbabweans to productively contribute to the South African economy. We will support this budget which will require exemplary management if it is to get the job done Dudley added.
