A growing opposition to a ’vaccine passport’ has erupted on social media has erupted with many South Africans calling the ’vaccine passport’ a violation of civil liberties. This new revelation has prompted a group of people to call for protests across the country this Saturday.
Shortly after President Cyril
Ramaphosa announced the movement of the country to lockdown level 2 from level
3. Twitter user Lonwabo Mfundisi published a chain of tweets of people holding
signs for the protest in different cities.
Advocate Vuyani Ngalwana said he
will not be forced to carry a pass in SA in the 21st century.
While many supported the
opposing stance, some brushed off the call for protests as just another Twitter
rant and some called on to the police to investigate following beliefs that
this was loot instigators hiding behind rallies. Health Minister Joe Phaahla previously
