NSRI searching for Gauteng man who drowned at camps bay beach

The search for a 23-year-old Gauteng man will continue today. This after the man was caught by rip current and was swept away at Camps Bay beach.

Eyewitnesses reported a drowning incident to the National Sea rescue institute just after 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon, between Camps Bay beach and Glen beach.

A local unidentified surfer had attempted to reach the casualty before he disappeared under water.

The NSRI Bakoven sea rescue craft Gemini Legend and the EMS/AMS Skymed rescue helicopter conducted a sea and air search.

Rescue swimmers were deployed and performed free dive search efforts. Despite extensive search efforts there is still no sign of the missing man. Police have opened an investigation.
