A 32-year-old driver in connection with the death of a Bonteheuwel teen, has been granted R5 000.
Gershwin Jacobs briefly
appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrates Court on Wednesday. He’s alleged to be
under the influence of alcohol, when he hit 18-year-old Tatum Hendricks and
another man with his car on Sunday.
It is believed that the
man then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two properties on Bluegum
Avenue.
Ward councillor Angus
McKenzie says Hendricks was hit with such force that she landed on the roof of
a nearby house. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital, in the early hours
of Monday morning.
The case has been postponed
until 22 February 2023 for further investigations.
Jacobs bail conditions
includes that he should not be in the Bonteheuwel area.
