A 6-year-old epileptic boy fell from the second floor of a 10-storey school building and died.
Katlego Nkabinde had just started his new school at Providence Academy in Johannesburg, and had celebrated his birthday ten days ago.
It is alleged that the 6-year-old boy went into a classroom on the second floor, put a chair by the window, climbed onto the chair and fell to his death.
Providence Academy principal Brighton Sikwili said: "It is hard when people entrust their children to you and this sort of thing happens”.
Gauteng department of education spokesperson Charles Phahlane said, "We will send a team to investigate whether the school is compliant with its registration terms, including municipal by-laws. They should have a health and a fire certificate."
