Provincial Development Council to be scraped

Lusanda Bill
24 January 2011

The Provincial Development Council will be removed by the Western Cape government.

The council was put in place to discuss issues affecting development in the Western Cape.

Western Cape Economic Development MEC Alan Winde said scrapping the body is the right thing to do.

The Democratic Alliance insisted the structure was ineffective, while the South African National NGO Coalition has criticised the move.
