The Congress of the People is in chaos ahead of elections, with fighting over who is the leader of the party.

The National Committee of Cope had a meeting yesterday, whereby the members ensured necessary measures will be taken to ensure the party's success in the upcoming local government elections.

Cope's spokesperson Phillip Dexter, says the meeting discussed various important issues, following the sabotaged National Elective Congress held in December.

At the meeting it was also discussed that the national congress of the party will be reconvened as soon as the necessary steps had been taken to stabilise structures of the party.
