Over 5,000 new police recruits started their training today all over the country.
Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa announced last year that recruits had to undergo a full year of basic training as opposed to just six months, as was previously the arrangement.
The Police Minister welcomed 2,000 recruits to the Police Training College in Pretoria West today.
Mthethwa said “If an individual is recruited from your community and you as a member of the community know that this person does not fit the bill of the kind of cadre of cop we want, we are able to eradicate those”.
