The Ramtha School of Enlightenment has distanced itself from the actions of the French couple shot dead on a Karoo farm yesterday.

In a statement the RSE’s founder JZ Knight admits that Philippe Meniére and Agnes Jardel attended several of its courses before 2004.

But the school, based in the United States, says they do not condone violence.

Knight expressed condolences to the family of 27-year-old Constable Jacob Boleme, who was shot dead, and 42-year-old Warrant Officer Glenwall du Toit, who was wounded in a confrontation with the couple on a Sutherland farm a week ago.
