Aurora’s Grootvlei Mine on the East Rand is still overwhelmed by illegal mining.
Yesterday nine people were arrested at the Grootvlei mine’s underground shaft.
Twelve others escaped but the mines security guard recovered explosives and mining equipment.
The Aurora’s Grootvlei Mine just in the past month has had five illegal miners killed in two separate shoot outs with security guards.
